This is another two-bits of wisdom from my four-year-old. He's right. Being single can give you something that is missing in many marriages: backbone. Some people marry with their heads, not their hearts.

They are willing to sell their souls for a good deal. They are willing to give up everything that matters most in life for a little more money or a little more security. They are willing to put up with whatever the other person wants because they don't want to make waves.

But, these are not the kind of people who find true happiness by the time they retire - they never learned how to stand on their own two feet.
